  • About KWP and KWK

Kaurna Warra Pintyanthi (KWP) was formed in 2002 by Kaurna Elders Dr Alitya Wallara Rigney and Dr Lewis Yerloburka O’Brien in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Rob Amery to promote the Kaurna language and provide oversight of and direction for the Kaurna language movement. Since 2004 KWP has been hosted by the University of Adelaide. Requests for Kaurna words, translations, and information were addressed at regular monthly KWP meetings up until 2014.

In 2013 Kaurna Warra Karrpanthi (KWK) was established as a sister organisation to KWP. Whereas KWP has no legal standing, KWK is an Aboriginal corporation under the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC). All directors of KWK are Kaurna persons. Since 2014, KWK has been dealing with all requests for Kaurna names and translations - please contact admin@kwk.org.au for any such inquiries.

KWP now focuses on Kaurna language research, media, and resource production. The team can be contacted via kwp@adelaide.edu.au.

A new website is currently under construction where you will find more information about KWP, KWK and the Kaurna language. Find out more.
