Funding opportunities

The Elder Conservatorium has several music funds available to support teaching, research, visiting artists, etc.

If you are interested in applying for funds, please fill out the application form below. Deadline for all applications is Friday 27 September 2024 - though there is also flexibility throughout the year.

Funding source

Decie Denholm Master Musician Residency

Funds available for 2 visitors each year (1 per semester) with approx. $16k each. This fund is open to all areas with preference given to non-classical (classical have several funds available that are not open to other areas). Funds can support a visiting international or domestic master musician, including honorarium, accommodation, travel, meals etc.

Elder Music Production Fund

($20k available)
Purpose of the fund is to provide support for music or theatre productions. Producing, staging and promoting music or theatre productions including such items as materials, production/equipment costs, creative and artistic salaries, rehearsal expenses, music or any other items deemed appropriate within the Purpose.

Elder Con Lunchtime Concert Series Fund - Ruth Olive Schuetz

(balance approx. $24k)
To support interstate performers for the Lunchtime Concert Series programs – all areas. Support marketing, administration and other purposes as long as it directly supports the Lunchtime Concert Series.

Elder Donations Fund

(balance approx. $70k)
This fund is open to all activities that support the Elder Con and available to all areas. This fund will support a communications person in 2024 to manage social media, website, newsletters etc.

Friends of the Conservatorium

(balance approx. $20k)
Funds available to promote awareness of, and support to, the Elder Con. We currently use this fund to support the live streaming of our Evening Concert Series.

EMR Distinguished Visiting Artist

Funds available for 2-3 visiting artists per year as part of the Visiting Artist Program with total annual distribution amount of approximately $32,000. The distinguished visiting international artist will represent the classical tradition and may be a composer, a conductor, and instrumentalist, a singer of an operatic director. The residency will normally be for a period of several weeks and must involved public performance and intensive coaching of students.

General funding request

From time to time, the Elder Conservatorium of Music receives funding to support staff initiatives. If you are looking for funding support, but your initiative will not meet the criteria of any of the above options, please complete the form supplying as much information as possible, including whether or not your request would be considered a research project or have tangible research outcomes.
