SEPP Honours and HDR Orientation Week 2025

We are excited to welcome our new Honours and Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates to the School of Economics and Public Policy (SEPP) with a comprehensive 3-day Orientation Week program!

This event is designed to equip you with the essential skills, knowledge, and connections to kickstart your academic journey.

Program Highlights:

• Math Bootcamp: Refresh and strengthen your understanding of key mathematical and statistical concepts, including Optimization, Calculus, Probability, and Statistics, through interactive sessions spread across the three days.
• Library Orientation Session: Learn how to locate scientific articles, master referencing techniques, and enhance your research skills with expert guidance from our library team.
• Networking Opportunities: Meet and greet with the HDR Coordinator, Honours Program Director, and fellow students during informal sessions.
• Catered Events: Enjoy a Morning Tea on Day 1 and a closing Lunch on Day 3 to connect with peers and faculty in a relaxed setting.

Day 1: Wednesday 26 February 2025
10.00 – 10.15: Opening remarks by Associate Head of Learning and Teaching, Associate Professor Stephanie McWhinnie
10.15 – 10.45: Meet and Greet with HDR Coordinator, Associate Professor Alexandra Peralta, and Honours Program Director, Dr Qazi Haque
10.45 - 11.30: Morning Tea
11.30 – 12.30: Library Orientation Session
12.30 – 13.00: Break
13.00 – 16.00: Math Bootcamp Session 1

Day 2: Thursday 27 February 2025
10.00 – 13.00: Math Bootcamp Session 2

Day 3: Friday 28 February 2025
10.00 – 13.00: Math Bootcamp Session 3
13.00 – 14.00: Closing remarks by Head of School Prof Fiona Yap followed by lunch
