Bachelor of Economics

The perfect degree for those who are curious about the world and passionate about making a difference. Studying the Bachelor of Economics will allow you to develop diverse skills that can be taken into the many industries and roles that require analytical ability.

Bachelor of Economics (Advanced)

A program for students interested in a specialised economic degree with a strong emphasis on research and advanced analytical skills and an ideal pathway into Honours. The Bachelor of Economics (Advanced) is also conditionally offered to high-performing students enrolled in the Bachelor of Economics during the first, second, or third semesters.

Scholarships

The Eric Smith Scholarship awards $1,500 to the commencing student with the highest overall Selection rank who enrols in the single degree Bachelor of Economics program at the University of Adelaide. Recipients must be Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia undertaking study as a Commonwealth supported student.

The John Creswell Scholarship awards $5,000 to the commencing student with the highest overall Selection rank who enrols in the Bachelor of Economics (Advanced) program at the University of Adelaide. This scholarship is open to Australian citizens or permanent residents of Australia.

Double degrees 

An economics degree is a valuable accompaniment to many of the degrees on offer at the University. It is possible to study a combination of programs as ‘concurrent degrees’. For example:

Honours Degree of Bachelor of Economics

The Honours Degree of Bachelor of Economics is for students who wish to pursue research-intensive careers in the departments and agencies of federal and state governments (the Treasury, the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Productivity Commission), and in the private sector (finance, consulting), or who want to undertake further education at Master’s and Doctoral levels.
