Seven generations have read the story. This one will sing it.
Louisa May Alcott’s beloved story of the adventures of the four March sisters is brought to musical life in Little Women. Set in 1860s America, the March sisters - Meg, the oldest, a romantic, the spirited and tomboyish Jo, sweet and loving Beth, and irascible, playful Amy, live with their Marmee while their father is on the battlefield.
Jo is trying to sell her stories for publication, but the publishers are not interested – her friend, Professor Bhaer, tells her that she needs to do better and write more from herself. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the story of herself and her sisters and their experience growing up in Civil War America.
With buoyant, joyful melodies, memorable characters, and a big-hearted message, Little Women reminds us that “sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true.”
