Faculty of ABLE: international guests visit ABLE in November

It has been a busy month as the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics has welcomed visitors from China, India, Indonesia, Norway and Vietnam. Deputy Dean International, Associate Professor Mathew White recaps.

I want to thank my Adelaide Business School, Elder Conservatorium of Music, School of Economics and Public Policy, School of Education, and School of Social Sciences colleagues for their generosity as we host our international delegates. Below are some highlights.
 

University of Agder, Norway

Academics from the University of Agder, Norway, visited ABLE on 31 October as part of a broader study tour of Australia. Agder is one of our student exchange partners. Visitors explored potential study mobility in English, Media, Social Sciences and Humanities.

The Elder Conservatorium and China National Symphony Orchestra

The Elder Conservatorium and the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra jointly hosted the China National Symphony Orchestra during its visit to Adelaide. The 85-member orchestra performed in the Adelaide Town Hall on Friday December 1.

School of Education hosts visitors from East Kalimantan, Indonesia

The School of Education’s Dr Igusti Darmawan, Associate Dean International, Lecturer, School of Education has hosted school principals and high school teachers from East Kalimantan, Indonesia

3-week programs (6-25 November 2023) and East Kalimantan Department for Education Staff (27 Nov-1 Dec 2023). Participants completed highly interactive workshops with School of Education academics and professional staff including Dr Igusti Darmawan, Associate Professor Edward Palmer, Professor Chris Boyle, Dr Rachel Bleeze, Dr Paul Rijken, Dr Jenny Stanley, Dr John Willison, Sandra Goodwin and Petra Galbraith. Also, English Language Centre staff Rani Thomas, Shona Grant, Timothy Henley, Paula Dimmell, Tanya Dahlenburg and Simon Futo.

Amity University, India visits ABLE

On 20 November, Professor Dr Gurinder Singh, Group Vice Chancellor and Mr Kanishk Jain, Assistant Director of the International Affairs Division from Amity University, visited ABLE to explore future areas of potential collaboration.

Brawijaya University, Indonesia

On 21 November, Associate Professor Mathew White (DDI ABLE) met with Dr Anastasia Ejova from the School of Psychology, and Dr Igusti Darmawan, Associate Dean International, Lecturer, School of Education with Professor Anang Sujoko and Dr Ridwan Aji Budi Prasetyo who were visiting the University of Adelaide to collaborate with the School of Psychology to explore potential partnerships with ABLE. China University of Petroleum visits ABLE

On 22 November, ABLE hosted an Academic Roundtable with visitors from the China University of Petroleum. ABLE’s DDI Associate Professor Mathew White Chaired a meeting to discuss educational innovation and the development of international cooperation and build relationships with the University of Adelaide.

Visitors included Mr Guogang MA, Party Committee Secretary of Education Development Group; Ms Hongyan LI, Director of Modern Distance Education Research Institute, Education Development Group; Mr Zhijian ZHANG, Director of International Cooperative Education Department, Education Development Group who met with Dr Olga Muzychenko, Associate Head of School (International), Program Coordinator for Postgraduate and Undergraduate International Business and International Management programs, Adelaide Business School, Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics (ABLE), Dr Rebecca Dolan, Senior Lecturer, Adelaide Business School, ABLE, Ms Kristina Qiu, Regional Manager (China), Future Students and Ms Zoha Ali Kazmi, Faculty International Coordinator. Mulawarman University, Indonesia visits ABLE

On Monday, 27 November ABLE hosted Professor Syarifah Hudayah, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business; Dr Felisitas Defung, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Dr Irwansyah Bahrudin Midong, Vice Dean for Finance and General Administration from Mulawarman University, Indonesia to an Academic roundtable meeting to explore international partnership and collaboration in teaching, research and community services in Economics and Business, including potential student exchange/international exposure program (undergraduate), split-site program (Master) and joint-supervision.
