Workshop: Implicit Bias: Dr Ben Reese

The School of Education is honoured to be hosting Dr Ben Reese, Jr., Psy.D. : Vice President for Institutional Equity at Duke University and Duke University Health System, for the following workshop. More information for Dr Reese.

Workshop: Introductory Implicit Bias Session, will cover the following

- Rationale for the focus on implicit bias
- What it is and how it operates in our interpersonal relations and decision-making
- Difference between implicit and explicit bias
- The development of the foundation/precursors of implicit in early childhood
- The development of personal and group implicit biases in adults
- Relevant research on implicit bias from a number of different sectors and contexts
- Surfacing one’s own possible implicit biases
- What strategies (personal and organisationally) help to reduce implicit biases
- Areas for future research.

The session will be interactive, including mini-lectures and small group discussion. 

This workshop is offered as part of the School of Education Aboriginal and Islander Action Plan 2019 and co-sponsored by the Indigenous Oral Health Unit, Adelaide Dental School, University of Adelaide.
