Master of Teaching students kick-start the new academic year
The University of Adelaide’s academic year has begun with Orientation for our Master of Teaching students.
The Program Director of the Master of Teaching degree, Dr Steven Stolz, welcomed our new students to the Napier Building while many other students attended online.
This was followed by an introduction from Head of School Professor Faye McCallum who congratulated the students on their successful entry into a Go8, global top 1% University.
Key lecturers from the School of Education shared some background on their research interests and how lectures will look before Dr Stolz ran the students through an overview of the two-year program.
Dr Brendan Bentley and Ms Petra Galbraith talked the students through the placement and professional experience program – a highlight for many students.
Dr Walter Barbieri talked about the Teaching Performance Assessment (TPA) and the e-Portfolio which is highly valued by future employers. Dr Barbieri then took students on an exciting journey through the eLearning program.
Students then stretched their legs on a campus tour guided by current student Lilian Shan, and the day concluded with a casual lunch in the courtyard of the Nexus 10 building.
We look forward to seeing this new group of Master of Teaching students develop and thrive at the School of Education, preparing them for the most rewarding profession in the world.
