Leadership opportunities for pre-service teachers through the eLearning Program

The School of Education eLearning Program continues to offer new and exciting opportunities through which students engage with industry partners. Seven pre-service teachers from the School of Education have been selected to take part in a professional learning program alongside dozens of school managers and leaders from across Australia. Led by Apple and entitled Developing Leaders, this professional learning program focuses on how schools can better organise themselves for connectedness and wellbeing in education.

Through a range of remote and face-to-face events spanning three months, pre-service teachers will explore how to improve school cultures in support of teacher and student wellbeing.

Workshops include sustained networking opportunities among education colleagues, collaboration with workplace culture experts Inventium, and engagement with school principal recruitment consultants. This window into school leadership will give pre-service teachers early insights into the emerging trends that will define the roles that they might encounter in their aspirational careers.

Of the early workshops and learning materials, Ben Allen, 4th-year Bachelor of Teaching student, says: "This series of events provides an amazing opportunity for young teachers to engage with educational leaders from across the country, through deep discussions and professional development."

All involved look forward to the ensuing engagements and to leverage stakeholder relationships to untap future career opportunities.
