Food Insecurity in South Australia

Greg Pattinson, CEO Foodbank South Australia

For the Food Values Research Group's July 2020 seminar, we are pleased to welcome Greg Pattinson.

Greg will discuss the role of Foodbank in addressing food insecurity in South Australia. During his presentation, Greg will talk about a range of factors related to the sourcing of food, including the evolution from food rescue to contract manufacturing, the shifting of delivery direct to the end-clients, the perception of a lack of fresh healthy food, national and state food partners and Foodbank's essential role in the food supply chain.

With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, more South Australians are relying on food relief organisations. In light of this, Greg will discuss the impact of COVID-19 in terms of changes in both demand and delivery model and the opportunity this poses for creative solutions. More broadly, Greg will also consider what support is needed in the future to enable food security in South Australia.

When: Tuesday 21st of July, 12-1 PM

Where: Online. Please RSVP to foodresearch@adelaide.edu.au

Greg Pattinson has been the CEO of Foodbank South Australia since 2014. Foodbank is a not-for-profit food relief organisation which manages the transfer of surplus and donated food from the food industry to community support agencies which help feed vulnerable Australians.
