On 23 March 2021, Dr Marci Baranski (Independent Scholar, Chicago) spoke to the Food Values Research Group about the Green Revolution and its enduring impact.

Marci provided an in-depth analysis of the key narratives surrounding the Green Revolution, focusing in particular on how the Green Revolution was experienced in India. Much of her analysis centred around the role of Norman Borlaug in championing the ideas behind the Green Revolution. During her presentation, Marci offered a critique of Borlaug's understanding of agricultural adaptation, pointing out, in particular, the limited benefits which were derived by smallholder farmers. Finally, Marci also spoke about present attempts to replicate the Green Revolution, especially within Africa.
