Beethoven did just that when he uprooted to Vienna to write some Piano Trios and revolutionise classical music. Likewise, Richie Benaud’s cool captaincy and decisions making led his cricketers to one of the most thrilling sporting conclusions ever. The drama of the 1960 ‘Tied Test’ is captured in music by David John Lang in his new work for the Benauds.
