Brahms Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 60
A masterful blend of folk elements, operatic lyricism and symphonic-scale grandeur makes the Shield String Trio in F Major a central piece in the English chamber repertoire. Brahms’ mighty Op. 60, a musical illustration of Goethe’s novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, places a sombre shroud over the listener with its fatalistic mood.
