The Exhibits (Hal's Hall)

The Exhibits at Hal's Hall

This exciting group co-led by guitarist James Muller and bassist Lyndon Gray are about to record their second album and after a successful album-release tour earlier this year now plan to debut their new tunes to the Hal's Hall audience. Joined by alto saxophonist Tom Noonan and Sydney drummer Tim Firth, the band will present their brand-new compositions full of rhythmic and harmonic fascinations that have inspired this current crop of tunes and providing plenty of room for thrilling improvisation and group interplay.

'The Exhibits... confirms that Muller's powers are as impressive as ever. If anything, his playing in 2025 reveals the high degree of maturity he now possesses. He is fortunate to have discovered in Adelaide the superb bassist Lyndon Gray, whose five extremely interesting compositions sustain the album, and whose brilliant improvisations give it real distinction. Such a fine album suggests that this outstanding quartet is now carrying the flag for jazz in Adelaide.'
