PianoLab a great success!

PianoLab performance

From November 17-20, staff and students of the Elder Conservatorium of Music joined visitors from around Australia for PianoLab, a unique celebration of the piano in the immersive twenty-first technology of the Lab at Light Square.

The Elder Conservatorium of Music and the J.M. Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice at the University of Adelaide partnered with Recitals Australia and The Lab for a festival that defied boundaries, bringing the riches of the piano out of the concert hall and into the community.

Curated by Elder Conservatorium Director Anna Goldsworthy, PianoLab featured Lucinda Collins, Konstantin Shamray, Mark Ferguson, Stephen Whittington alongside students and recent graduates Dylan Henderson, Jenny Su, Haowei Yang, Jennifer Chen, Esmond Choi, Shawn Hui, Yundi Yuan, Ben Nicholls, Andrew Casey, Ciara Louise Ferguson, and Darcie Bills.

Interstate guests included Paul Grabowsky, Joe Chindamo, Stephen McIntryre and Paavali Jumppanen for a series of immersive recitals across the genres of classical, jazz and contemporary music.

The festival attracted considerable media attention, including a Limelight Review:
