LA Philharmonic Wind Quintet in Residence
Last week, we had the special privilege of hosting five outstanding musicians – Denis Bouriakov (flute), Ricardo Barbosa Pereia (oboe), Boris Allakverdyan (clarinet), Whitney Crockett (bassoon) and decorated ECM alumnus Andrew Bain (horn) – from the LA Philharmonic Wind Quintet for a special residency at the Elder Conservatorium of Music from Tuesday 24–Friday 27 September. They worked with and alongside our students, in rehearsals, masterclasses and individual lessons.
'What an incredible opportunity for these young students! If I was studying now and these opportunities were available to me, I'd be snapping them up. And, as a wind player who once had aspirations to be as good as these visiting guests, my eyes would be on the Elder Con. On behalf of the students that have access to this great opportunity – thank you!'

Welcome Winds (Lunchtime Concert)
Our Lunchtime Concert on Friday 27 September marked a spectacular climax to a memorable week with the LA Philharmonic Wind Quintet. They performed side-by-side with our own Elder Conservatorium students Jade Elsdon (oboe), Hannah Bampton (clarinet), Jesse Timothy (horn), Angus McBride (bassoon), Hope Sawers (flute), Lucy Ryan (flute), Caitlin Murray (flute), Alex Byrne (flute), Annaliese Jeffery (flute), Patrick Moorhouse (oboe), Annelie Budgen (clarinet), Liam McBride (horn), and Chiara Panetta (bassoon). Thank you Denis, Ricardo, Boris, Andrew and Whitney for being so generous with your time and expertise. Our students had an amazing time, and so did our wonderful audience at the concert!
