Dr Simón Pazos Quintana Performs Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No. 5 with the Burnside Symphony Orchestra

Elder Conservatorium accompanist and PhD graduate Dr Simón Pazos Quintana recently joined the Burnside Symphony Orchestra for two performances of the Piano Concerto No. 5 in F major, Op. 103 (The Egyptian) by Camille Saint-Saëns in the Burnside Ballroom on Sunday 29 June and Wednesday 2 July. Conducted by Philip Paine (Principal Third Horn, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra), the concerts also included Liszt's Les préludes, S. 97, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92. Congratulations to all involved!
Simón will also be giving his debut solo recital in our Elder Hall lunchtime concert series on Friday 19 September, performing eight vignettes from Dvořák's rarely-heard Poetic Tone Pictures, Op. 85 ('the great forgotten cycle of 19th-century piano music, according to Leif Ove Andsnes) and Turina's irresistible Danzas fantásticas, Op. 22.
