Rob Nairn Performs as Soloist with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra in Sydney and Melbourne, and Joins UKARIA's 10th Anniversary Celebrations
In their most recent season, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra featured staff member Rob Nairn as a soloist in his own arrangement of Vivalid's Cello Concerto in C minor, RV 401. Six performances in Sydney at the City Recital Hall (Tuesday 17–Saturday 21 June) were followed by three at the Melbourne Recital Centre (Thursday 26–Sunday 29 June). The tour received great reviews in Classic Melbourne, Limelight and the Sydney Morning Herald.
'Nairn demonstrated impressive athleticism and dexterity throughout in handling the much bigger bass instrument, with spectacular semi-quaver passages performed with clarity and razor-sharp articulation in the outer movements, and lovely tone and excellent musicianship a highlight in the work's more sedate central section.'
– Andrew Wailes, Classic Melbourne
Rob also joined the Australian String Quartet and members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra in UKARIA's 10th anniversary celebrations on Friday 22 and Sunday 24 August, in a program led by Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto.
