Sterling Rieck, Tim Tran and Stanley McDonald Tour Europe with the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO)

Elder Conservatorium students Sterling Rieck (viola), Tim Tran (viola) and Stanley McDonald (tuba) recently participated in the Australian Youth Orchestra's 2025 International Tour, held from Thursday 5 June–Tuesday 1 July. The tour featured conductor David Robinson, soloists Christian Li (violin) and William Barton (didgeridoo), and many of Australia's best young musicians.

The tour had full-house performances at some of Europe's most prestigious venues, including the Festspiele Mecklenberg Vorpommern, Musikverein in Vienna, Stefaniensaal in Graz, Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Rheingau Musik Festival and Der Rundfunk Berlin Brandenburg before concluding with a final concert at the Sydney Opera House. Tim Tran (viola) has also been invited to attend the Mozarteum in Salzburg and will start a two-year performance degree at the end of September. We wish him all the best!
