Lloyd Van't Hoff in Orange Chamber Music Festival

Lloyd Van't Hoff Performing in the Orange Chamber Music Festival

Congratulations to Head of Woodwind, Lloyd Van't Hoff, who recently performed in the Orange Chamber Music Festival (Thursday 7–Sunday 10 March) with inspiring colleagues including Zoe Freisburg (violin), Vatche Jambazian (piano), Ensemble Trivium, the Orava Quartet, The Song Company, and the Nexus Quartet, amongst others.

'With no drop in energy, Lloyd Van't Hoff performed next to a prerecorded clarinet choir of his own design for Steve Reich's gorgeous New York Counterpoint. The heavy pull-and-push release of each chord almost seemed at odds with a single performer on stage. Accompanying the performance was a stunning animation by Nikki Pet. Almost a background of buildings and Van't Hoff silhouettes, different-coloured sunbeams poked through the mottled clouds with each pulsing chord perfectly timed with both the backing track and live performance. Leaning into its modernist flair, it was a great touch. The concert carried on with fresh air.'
