Congratulations to our Head of Brass, Dr Emma Gregan, who gave the South Australian premiere of Catherine Likhuta's 'Sure Fire – Concerto for Horn and Wind Band' with the Unley Concert Band on Saturday 18 May at St Peter's Girls' School.

Teddy Tahu Rhodes Triumphs in Puccini's Tosca (Opera Queensland) and Mendelssohn's Elijah (Sydney Philharmonia Choirs)

Congratulations to Teddy Tahu Rhodes, who recently sang the role of Baron Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca at the Opera at Jimbour event at Jimbour House (Friday 10–Sunday 12 May), and the following weekend sung the title role in Mendelssohn's Elijah, joining Sydney Philharmonia's 400-voice Festival Chorus and conductor Brett Weymark in the Sydney Opera House for this colossal masterpiece.

On Sunday 9 June at 7.30pm in Elder Hall, the Elder Conservatorium Baroque Ensemble led by Artistic Director Rob Nairn and guest concertmaster Ben Dollman will present 'Cornucopia', a celebration of the baroque horn.

Elder Conservatorium of Music Theatre Students Join State Opera South Australia and State Theatre Company South Australia for Candide

For the first time in more than a decade, State Opera South Australia and State Theatre Company South Australia will come together to present a spectacular concert version of Leonard Bernstein's beloved comic operetta and existential vaudeville, Candide, featuring a group of 19 Elder Conservatorium of Music Theatre students in a work-integrated-learning context.

Members of the Royal Australian Air Force Band paid a visit to the Elder Conservatorium on Tuesday 14 May. They worked closely with wind, brass, percussion and chamber music students, sharing their wisdom on performing in various musical situations and offering a deeper insight into what life is like working in the Air Force.

Marietta Resek Celebrates 100th Birthday

'One of the dearest members of our Elder Con "family", Marietta Resek, is pictured below listening to a solo Schubert performance on the violin she brought with her on the Jewish Kindertransport train from Vienna to London in 1938 (her violin was played by Dr Nicholas Adams, psychiatrist and Elder Con alumnus).
