News from the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM) During National Reconcilation Week

The past week (Monday 27 May–Monday 3 June) was National Reconciliation Week (NRW), a time when we remember that the fight for justice and rights for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people is ongoing.

In an effort to champion Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander voices, The Hospital Research Foundation Group – Creative Health welcomed Basso Edwards and Aaron Fraser, two musicians from the APY Lands and students at the Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM) to perform at the Royal Adelaide Hospital on Tuesday 28 May.

CASM students DEM MOB will travel to the Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts in New York City this month as part of a Carclew Fellowship.

CASM has also been awarded a City of Adelaide Cultural Strategic Partnership to support the book launch of the revised Kaurna song book (a partnership to fund cover art and graphic design for the book, its first print run, and live performances at the book launch in 2025 at Kaurna Day).
