Nicole Marshall Wins 2024 Rosemary and John Hopkins Award for Conductors

Congratulations to conductor Nicole Marshall, who is the recipient of the 2024 Rosemary and John Hopkins Award for Conductors. Nicole completed her Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne (2018–2021) and recently graduated with an Honours Degree in Orchestral Conducting at the Elder Conservatorium of Music (2022–2023), where she has been studying with Associate Professor Luke Dollman. Nicole has conducted many ensembles and orchestras across the country including the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Preston Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne University Saxophone Ensemble and South Area Concert Band. Nicole will be using the Awards funds to support her '2025 Symphony in a Day' project. She writes: 'This money will allow me to bring together community musicians across Melbourne alongside professional musicians to rehearse great music and provide a free concert for the local community. The funds will allow me to perform repertoire within copyright and access the highest quality instruments as well as supporting some of the professional musicians participating in the project.'
