Douglas Coghill Visit

Last week the Elder Conservatorium hosted violist Douglas Coghill from Coghill String Instruments in Tasmania. Douglas set up a work room in Elder Hall to do some repair work on our much-loved instruments and was also kept busy re-hairing bows. As well as assessing some instruments and the running repairs, Douglas brought an array of Australian and European handmade violins, violas and bows for our current and graduated students to put through their paces (and purchase). We even spotted some ASO players who popped in for a chat. The upkeep of instruments at the Conservatorium is vital so some of our students can have the opportunity to play on quality professional instruments. Thank you, Douglas, for your care, expertise and passion.
