'Welcome to the Elder Conservatorium's 2025 concert series, Incandescence. In this era of exponential change, music can be a beacon, guiding us reliably back to our own humanity. As educators, our purpose is enlightenment, and this series celebrates above all the brilliance of our faculty and students.
Highlights include the launch of our flagship staff ensemble, aptly called Lumen, under the visionary artistic direction of Lloyd Van't Hoff. The Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra joins forces with Chorale for the Duruflé Requiem, and later with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, under the inspired leadership of chief conductor, Mark Wigglesworth. We are thrilled to partner with our longstanding Quartet-in-Residence, the Australian String Quartet, for its national concert season, and to co-present the Harris International Piano Series, including appearances from our beloved Konstantin Shamray and virtuoso Marc-André Hamelin.
For the first time, our brochure also showcases the full spectrum of our performance offerings, including four productions from our acclaimed Music Theatre team, and our newest venture, the jazz club Hal's Hall.
Let there be light!'
