Jakub Jankowski's 'The Orchid and the Wasp' Premiered and Recorded by the Wattleseed Ensemble

Jakub Jankowski 'The Orchid and the Wasp'

Elder Conservatorium alumnus Jakub Jankowski's new work The Orchid and the Wasp was given its first performances by the Wattleseed Ensemble – Meg Cohen (violin), Katie Yap (viola), and Elder Conservatorium alumnus David Moran (cello) – on Friday 14 February (Crafers Church of the Epiphany), Sunday 15 February (Nexus Arts) and Sunday 16 February (Newland Memorial Church, Victor Harbor) in a program celebrating local South Australian composers, championing the natural environment, and their unique melding of Baroque, folk and contemporary styles. Jakub's work is an imaginative sonic exploration of symbiosis, in which traditional string playing is combined together with singing and organic sound-objects, to conjure up a musical world of flowers and insects. Keep an eye out on Wattleseed Ensemble's Facebook and Instagram pages for updates about the release of the recording of Jakub's work, recorded at Wizard Tone Studios.
