Maisie Aitken and Grace Northam Announced as Finalists for 2025 Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship
Bachelor of Music (Jazz Performance) third-year students Maisie Aitken and Grace Northam have recently been announced as finalists for the 2025 Generations in Jazz Vocal Scholarship.
Six finalists were chosen from across Australia, with selection made on the basis of the applicants meeting the eligibility criteria deemed by the judging panel to display an outstanding level of musical ability and accomplishment in musical performance. Congratulations to them both, and best of luck for the Scholarship!

Maisie Aitken
Maisie is a dedicated third-year student at the Elder Conservatorium, pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance with a focus on voice. Maisie has developed vocal technique and confidence, performing in notable Adelaide venues such as La Louisiane, Leigh Street Luggage, Southern Jazz Club, and The Exeter. Maisie is a member of the soul blues band Line Lonely and the newly-formed Moose Juuce, actively contributing to the local music scene.
With a rich background in musical theatre and accolades like the Year 12 Academic Excellence Award for SACE Music Ensemble Performance, Maisie has showcased her talent at events such as the Catholic Schools Music Festival and Generations in Jazz.

Grace Northam
A powerhouse in the jazz and contemporary music scene, Grace has built an impressive performance resume, showcasing her versatility across various genres and ensembles. From leading roles in school musicals to captivating audiences at WOMAD and the South Coast Jazz Festivals, Grace's journey is a testament to her dedication and artistic growth. Her contributions extend beyond solo performances – she has been an integral part of vocal ensembles, including The Wardells and the Adelaide Connection Jazz Choir, while also lending her voice to session recordings and collaborations. Grace's band, Birds Are Spies, has taken her talent nationwide, performing across Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne as part of their East Coast tour.
Grace's achievements speak volumes about her artistry, including her acceptance into the Bachelor of Music Jazz Performance program in 2023 and the opportunity to connect one-on-one with Jazzmeia Horn during her studies at the Elder Conservatorium.
