Adelaide Cello Weekend (Thursday 11–Sunday 14 July)

Our second Adelaide Cello Weekend intensive for 2024 kicks off this Thursday 11 July, with cellists from all over the country meeting at the Conservatorium for lessons, masterclasses, cello ensemble and concerts!

Please come and join Josephine Vains, Thomas Marlin, Janis Laurs, Marcus Ho, Alice Hurwood, Henry Say, Chiara Kelle, Masha Pavlenko, Naomi Harmer, our Cello Lecturer Edith Salzmann and many other cellists for two concerts on Sunday 14 July, both in Elder Hall.

At 1.00pm we will have a lunchtime recital with works by David Popper, Fauré, Mauricio Kagel, Gaspar Cassadó and other miniature works written for cello and piano. Popper's famous Requiem for 3 Celli and Piano also makes an appearance.

At 6.00pm we have our Grand Finale, featuring Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasileiras; Rossini's William Tell Overture; works by Dvořák, Mahler, Piazzolla, and much more, performed by up to 30 cellists on stage.
