PRIMETIME Work-in-Development Showing by Millicent Sarre and Joseph Simons (Adelaide Cabaret Festival)

On Thursday 12 June the Adelaide Festival Centre hosted a special work-in-progress showing of PRIMETIME, a new Australian musical co-written and directed by our Music Theatre lecturer Joseph Simons (book and lyrics), and ECM Bachelor of Music Theatre alumna Millicent Sarre (music and lyrics).
Nobuntu and Academy Voices Premiere 'Himeji Garden at Dusk' by Dr Carl Crossin OAM and 'Glenelg Sunset' by Dr Anne Cawrse

Two of the leading choral figures in Australia today, Associate Professor Carl Crossin OAM and Dr Anne Cawrse (Adjunct Lecturer in Composition), were commissioned by UKARIA to create new works for this year's A Cappella Academy, which featured Zimbabwe-based female a cappella quintet Nobuntu as ensemble-in-residence, and the new Adelaide-based vocal group Academy Voices (directed by ECM alumnus Jonathan Bligh), comprised of twelve singers from the Adelaide Chamber Singers, Aurora Vocal Ensemble, Festival Statesmen Chorus and Rising Voices.
Lerner/Jansen/Greenhill 'Play Trio' Album Launch at Hal's Hall

On Saturday 14 June, we had the pleasure of presenting Ben Lerner (alto saxophone), Nick Jansen (bass) and George Greenhill (drums) in Hal's Hall (Madley Rehearsal Studio) for the launch of their debut album Play Trio (this performance being part of a larger tour of Australia and New Zealand to promote its release). The evening also featured a special new collaboration with our celebrated Lecturer in Jazz Guitar, James Muller.

Vanya Quartet Selected for AFCM International Masterclass Program 2025

The Vanya Quartet – Lucy Macourt (violin), Nick Miceli (violin), Clara Salzmann (viola) and Henry Say (cello) – were recently announced as one of five ensembles and duos selected to participate in the Australian Festival of Chamber Music's International Masterclass Program 2025, under Program Director Lloyd Van't Hoff (our Head of Woodwinds).

Open Music Academy Mid-Year Concerts 2025

The Open Music Academy (OMA) presented a series of mid-year concerts on Saturday 14 June in the Hartley Concert Room. Held over three sessions (3.00–4.00pm, 4.15–5.00pm and 5.30–7.00pm), these performances celebrated the progress and development of our talented students across a wide range of instruments, performing at all levels from beginner to advanced.
