Congratulations to Dr Elizabeth Layton (Head of Classical Performance and Head of Strings), who received the Excellence in Teaching (Individual Teaching in a Continuing Position) Award!

Dr Anne Cawrse, Dr Jesse Budel and Charlee Watt Win Adelaide Critics Circle Awards 2024

On Monday 9 December at Goodwood Theatres, our Adjunct Lecturer in Composition Dr Anne Cawrse was the recipient of the Independent Professional Award; Elder Conservatorium PhD graduate Dr Jesse Budel won the Independent Arts Foundation Award for Innovation; and Elder Conservatorium Open Music Academy alumna Charlee Watt received the Emerging Artist of the Year Award, presented by the Adelaide Critics Circle.

Elder Conservatorium 2023 Masters conducting graduate Leanna Puttick has been selected as a Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellow for 2025 alongside 11 other conductors from around the world.

OMA Connection Day: A Song for Willunga High School

OMA Connection Day at Willunga High School

On Friday 15 November the Open Music Academy (OMA) visited Willunga High School for a day of demonstrations, performances and workshops with students from years 8–11. Dr Julian Ferraretto facilitated the day with accomplished support from Elder Conservatorium jazz students Heath Oetjen and Haysan Morris.

Open Music Academy Regional Program Life-changing for Riverland Students

Riverland students William Heuzenroeder, Grace Kelly, and Juliet Haenen have been developing their musical theatre craft this year as recipients of Open Music Academy's regional scholarship program. The three singers are all students at Loxton High School and have travelled to Adelaide University each fortnight to receive tuition.

Dr Anne Cawrse's New Piano Quartet Art of the Determined to Receive Premiere at the Australian National Academy of Music's 'Sounds of Australia' Festival

A new Piano Quartet by Dr Anne Cawrse (our Adjunct Lecturer in Composition) will receive its premiere in the Australian National Academy of Music's chamber music festival Sounds of Australia. Entitled Art of the Determined, Cawrse's new work was commissioned by John Daley in memory of Professor David Penington AC.
