GRAMMY Award-winning Linda May Han Oh returns to Adelaide to perform with top jazz musicians and staff from the Elder Conservatorium of Music for masterclasses and two concerts this August.

Stephen King Tours with the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra (ARCO)

From Wednesday 25–Sunday 29 June, Stephen King (viola) toured with the Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra (ARCO), presenting concerts and workshops on gut strings and period instruments. He was joined by Rachael Beesley (violin), ASO violinist Alison Rayner, Natasha Kraemer (cello) and Nicole van Bruggen (basset clarinet).

Lloyd Van't Hoff Performs Julian Yu's Clarinet Concerto with Steel City Strings

Our Head of Woodwinds, Lloyd Van't Hoff, recently performed Chinese-Australian composer Julian Yu's new Clarinet Concerto with the Steel City Strings over three concerts across New South Wales, held at the Bowral Memorial Hall in Bowral (Sunday 15 June), Wollongong Art Gallery (Saturday 21 June) in Wollongong, and The Pavilion Kiama (Sunday 22 June) in Kiama.

Henry Say Wins Recitals Australia Lunch Hour Autumn Series Final

On Saturday 21 June in the North Adelaide Baptist Church Hall, Recitals Australia hosted the 2025 Autumn Lunch Hour Series Final, which featured no less than five of our current students and alumni, including Chiara Kelle (cello), Jack Daws (guitar), Henry Say (cello), Adam Draper (trombone) and Wendy Yu (cello). A big congratulations to the winner, Henry Say (cello)!

Arjun Singh in the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra with Dr Elizabeth Layton and Edith Salzmann

Congratulations to third-year student Arjun Singh, invited to play in the cello section of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra for their recent Symphony Series concerts, entitled 'Mesmerise'.
Ben Betelli's 'Symphonic Fantasy' Performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra

Current Bachelor of Music Honours composition student Ben Betelli recently had his new work Symphonic Fantasy performed by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra played the piece as part of a workshop for the Elder Conservatorium conducting students in Grainger Studio on Tuesday 17 June.

Classical Voice Students Perform in the McLaren Vale

A group of our Classical Voice students (Pippa Storlarski, Daisy Jury, Willow Barrett, Rosy O'Connor, Charlie Jin, Sean Kelley, and Hannah Szabo) performed at a dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the McLaren Vale called 'Our Place' as part of preparations for the Big Sing community concert in September.

Professor Hsing-Chwen Hsin Visit and Masterclass

On Tuesday 17 June the Elder Conservatorium hosted a visit by the internationally acclaimed Taiwanese pianist Professor Hsing-Chwen Hsin. Prof. Hsin, who is Head of Performance at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Tawain, delivered an engaging masterclass with the piano students, and also shared some fascinating insights on the Chopin Études.
