Masterclass with Harumi Rhodes from the Takács Quartet (Musica Viva Australia)
Elder Conservatorium strings were delighted to welcome Harumi Rhodes from the world-renowned Takács Quartet to give a string quartet masterclass on Friday 22 August in the Hartley Concert Room, supported by Musica Viva Australia.

Last week the Elder Conservatorium welcomed South African pianist, vocal coach and author Dr Nico de Villiers for a series of classes and individual sessions with our students.
Yuyao Wan in the Altamira Guitar Competition
Open Music Academy (OMA) student Yuyao Wan performed in the prestigious Altamira Guitar Competition, hosted by the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Yuyao was one of six finalists nationwide, and was the only high-school aged student to compete against graduates and university students.

Lloyd Van't Hoff to Join the Doric String Quartet in Musica Viva Australia Tour in 2026
Our Head of Woodwinds, Lloyd Van't Hoff, will join the internationally acclaimed London-based Doric String Quartet for a national tour for Musica Viva Australia in 2026, performing in Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide and Perth from Wednesday 15–Tuesday 28 June.

Masterclass with Tuulia Ylönen
On Saturday 23 August, the Elder Conservatorium Woodwind department enjoyed an inspiring masterclass with Tuulia Ylönen (Finnish National Opera Orchestra / Sibelius Academy), who imparted so much character, colour and energy in her teaching. Huge thanks for visiting us at the Elder Conservatorium!
ECM Flute Students Triumph in the Adelaide Eisteddfod
Elder Conservatorium flute students Lucy Ryan, Hope Sawers, Annaliese Jeffery and Georgia Morton, alongside Open Music Academy (OMA) student Renee Yang, have all recently received prizes in the Adelaide Eisteddfod Flute Division.
