Jazz Combo Inspirational in Port Augusta for OMA Tour

Mark Ferguson, Head of Jazz, and students, Victoria Katsoulis, Daisy Davidson, Emily Dennis, James Ho and James Nisbet spent three days and two nights in Port Augusta (Monday 23–Wednesday 25 September) for the final Open Music Academy tour of the year. The group's packed schedule saw them providing inspirational performances and bespoke workshops for over 700 students from reception to Year 12 across three schools.

LA Philharmonic Wind Quintet in Residence

Last week, we had the special privilege of hosting five outstanding musicians – Denis Bouriakov (flute), Ricardo Barbosa Pereia (oboe), Boris Allakverdyan (clarinet), Whitney Crockett (bassoon) and decorated ECM alumnus Andrew Bain (horn) – from the LA Philharmonic Wind Quintet for a special residency at the Elder Conservatorium of Music from Tuesday 24–Friday 27 September. They worked with and alongside our students, in rehearsals, masterclasses and individual lessons.

OMA Student William Heuzenroeder Achieves A+ for AMEB Grade 7 Music Theatre Exam
Open Music Academy (OMA) student William Heuzenroeder achieved an A+ for his AMEB Grade 7 Musical Theatre Exam. William is based in Loxton, and through the support of OMA's regional scholarship program, has been receiving weekly lessons from the fantastic Music Theatre instructor David Gauci.

ECMT's Production of Jesus Christ Superstar Triumphs at Scott Theatre

A huge congratulations to our 2024 Graduating Class and first-year students of the Bachelor of Music Theatre degree at the Elder Conservatorium for their sold-out production of Jesus Christ Superstar, which ran from Thursday 26–Sunday 29 September at Scott Theatre.

Baroque Academy 2024 a Huge Success

Adelaide Baroque's fourth annual Baroque Academy, presented in partnership with the Elder Conservatorium of Music, ran from Tuesday 17–Saturday 21 September. The week was a huge success with two evening concerts, lectures, masterclasses, demonstrations and baroque dance classes.

George Torbay AM to Step Down as Head of Music Theatre in 2025

Our Head of Music Theatre, George Torbay AM, has announced that he will be stepping down from his leadership position at the beginning of 2025. Erin James will step into the role of Head of Music Theatre at the beginning of next year.

Elizabeth Layton with the ASO in Adelaide and Gawler

Violinist Elizabeth Layton was soloist and director with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra in two sold-out concerts in Adelaide and Gawler, with repertoire ranging from CPE Bach to Peter Maxwell Davies. The performances will be broadcast on ABC Classic on Monday 28 October at 1.00pm.

Seraphim Trio Tour in Victoria – September 2024
Seraphim Trio (Anna Goldsworthy, Helen Ayres and Tim Nankervis) enjoyed a whirlwind tour of Victoria between September 5 and 8, performing trios by Beethoven, Lili Boulanger and Saint-Saëns at Beleura House and Garden in Mornington, Tempo Rubato in Brunswick, Queens College at the University of Melbourne, for the Camberwell Music Society, and at Ballarat's Anglican Cathedral Synod Hall.
