The formation of this in-house chamber music ensemble was inspired by a desire to illuminate the many remarkable facets of our Conservatorium – celebrating our exceptional faculty, our talented students, and the world-class music-making that flourishes within the walls of this institution.

My Chérie Announced as Nexus 2025 Interplay Program Participant

Nexus Arts' Interplay program offers a unique forum for contemporary musicians from culturally diverse and First Nations backgrounds to develop their practice, networks, and community. Interplay provides individualised and group-based development activities over the course of one year. The program aims to provide dedicated space for artists to develop, share and connect, bringing contemporary musicians together in the spirit of intercultural communication, exploration and creation.

Aleksiah Selected to Perform at the 2025 Primavera Pro Showcase in Barcelona

Elder Conservatorium Bachelor of Music (Popular Music) alumna Alexia Damokas (aleksiah) has been selected to perform at the 2025 Primavera Pro showcase in Barcelona on Friday 6 June. Primavera is a prestigious music festival and showcase conference and an excellent platform for artists looking to build exposure within the European and Spanish-speaking markets.

Jack Overall Accepted into ACO Emerging Artist Program

On Monday 3 February, the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO) announced the six talented young string players who have been accepted to take part in the 2025 ACO Emerging Artists Program. We're particularly thrilled to see cellist and Elder Conservatorium alumnus Jack Overall (Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours) has been selected!

Rob Nairn and Stephen King Record New ABC Classic Album with Ironwood in Sydney

From Thursday 28 January–Sunday 2 February, faculty members Rob Nairn and Stephen King took part in a recording of Schubert's famous Trout Quintet with the group Ironwood in Verbrugghen Hall at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Yundi Yuan with Hong Kong String Orchestra Artistic Director Jue Yao at Her Majesty's Theatre for 2025 Chinese Lunar New Year Concert

Elder Conservatorium Administrative Officer and current PhD candidate Yundi Yuan had a fantastic experience performing as the guest artist at the opening concert of the Hong Kong String Orchestra's Australian Debut Tour at Adelaide's Her Majesty's Theatre on Friday 31 January, in celebration of the 2025 Chinese Lunar New Year.
Lloyd Van't Hoff and Lisa Moore's New Album 'My Place' Released on ABC Classic

On Friday 17 January 2025, ABC Classic released the album My Place, featuring our Head of Woodwinds Lloyd Van't Hoff with New York-based Australian pianist Lisa Moore.

Dr Elizabeth Layton Receives FABLE Award for Excellence in Teaching

The annual Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics (FABLE) Awards for Outstanding Achievement were announced on Tuesday 10 December 2024. Congratulations to Dr Elizabeth Layton (Head of Classical Performance and Head of Strings), who received the Excellence in Teaching (Individual Teaching in a Continuing Position) Award!
