The Elder Conservatorium Chorale finished the year with a Christmas concert in the beautiful acoustic of St. John's Church, Halifax Street, last Sunday 24 November.

Double Bass Boot Camp
Ten bassists came together from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide for a three-day intensive (Monday 20–Friday 22 November), aptly named 'Bass Boot Camp'.
Ben Nicholls and Isabelle Watson Awarded Prizes at the Musicological Society of Australia (SA Chapter) Research Day 2024
Current History PhD candidate and BMus alumnus Ben Nicholls received the 2024 Naomi Cumming Prize (for a postgraduate student at any SA institution), and current PhD candidate Isabelle Watson received the 2024 Elder Conservatorium Prize for Excellence in Postgraduate Research (for a postgraduate student at the Elder Conservatorium) at the SA Chapter of the Musicological Society of Australia's Research Day 2024.
Dr Oliver Fartach-Naini Awarded 2025 UNESCO Adelaide City of Music International Collaboration Award
On Thursday 7 November, Dr Oliver Fartach-Naini (Associate Director of Postgraduate Coursework Programs and Senior Lecturer in Guitar and Pedagogy) was announced as the winner of the 2025 UNESCO Adelaide City of Music International Collaboration Award.

Keynote ABC Boyer Lecture Now Available on iview
On Thursday 31 October, Professor Anna Goldsworthy, Director of the Elder Conservatorium of Music, recorded the opening 2024 ABC Boyer Lecture at the ABC Ultimo Studios in Sydney – the first of four orations delivered by noted musicians and luminaries on classical music in the contemporary age.

Call for Papers – Music and Mediation
Mediation, in all its possible senses, from transmission to conflict resolution, is particularly relevant in times of technological innovation, sustainability challenges, forced displacement and struggles for equality or survival. This conference, generously supported by the Musicological Society of Australia (MSA), is concerned with the ways music and the study of music may contribute to the many theories and practices around mediation. We invite proposals from all disciplines, for panels, individual papers, and roundtable discussions, until Monday 16 December.
Professor Anna Goldsworthy to Give ABC Boyer Lecture on Classical Music in the Contemporary Age
In a series of four orations delivered by noted musicians and luminaries, the 2024 ABC Boyer Lectures will explore the state of classical music in Australia in the contemporary age. The series will commence with Professor Anna Goldsworthy delivering a moving lecture with live music exploring the connections between life and music on Thursday 31 October at the ABC Ultimo Studios.
Elder Conservatorium Baroque Ensemble at North Adelaide Baroque Hall
On Thursday 17 October the Elder Conservatorium Baroque Ensemble had their final end-of-year concert at the North Adelaide Baroque Hall. 18 students took part in a concert featuring the music of Lully, Corelli, Vivaldi, Muffat and Dall'Abaco to a very full and receptive house.

Michael Cox Flute Course 2024
Emerita Fellow Associate Professor Elizabeth Koch AM directed the fourth flute course to be held in Adelaide with Michael Cox in October this year. The course attracted some of the best players from around the country.
