Royal Australian Air Force Band Visit

Members of the Royal Australian Air Force Band paid a visit to the Elder Conservatorium on Tuesday 14 May. They worked closely with wind, brass, percussion and chamber music students, sharing their wisdom on performing in various musical situations and offering a deeper insight into what life is like working in the Air Force.

Marietta Resek Celebrates 100th Birthday

'One of the dearest members of our Elder Con "family", Marietta Resek, is pictured below listening to a solo Schubert performance on the violin she brought with her on the Jewish Kindertransport train from Vienna to London in 1938 (her violin was played by Dr Nicholas Adams, psychiatrist and Elder Con alumnus).

Students had a wonderful morning workshop with players from the internationally acclaimed French ensemble Trio Karénine on Monday 13 May. It was a great pleasure to meet Louis, Julien and Paloma and two string quartets and several pianists benefited from their energy and insight. We hope to see them again another day!

A stellar assembly of staff and alumni from the Elder Conservatorium of Music will perform in a special Gala Concert on Wednesday 15 May, at once demonstrating the artistry and collegiality of our community, while raising funds to support our ongoing mission.

On Saturday 4 May, the University of Adelaide celebrated 100 years of the enduring Waite Gift in a black-tie, stand-up cocktail affair held on the Urrbrae House Croquet Lawns, featuring performances by Elder Conservatorium staff, students and alumni.

Music and Mountains Festival, Queenstown, New Zealand

Director Anna Goldsworthy curated the Music and Mountains Festival in Queensland, New Zealand (April 9–14), performing alongside distinguished musicians from around Australia, including Elder Conservatorium Adjunct Lecturer Dr Konstantin Shamray and violin teacher Dr Helen Ayres.

Oliver Fartach-Naini and Lee Song-Ou in South Korea

Oliver Fartach-Naini and guitar duo partner Lee Song-Ou teamed up in South Korea for performances in Busan on Sunday 14 April and Daegu on Tuesday 16 April. The well-receive concerts included two recent compositions that Stephen Whittington has written for an album the duo will be recording in October.
