Classical Voice Students Perform in the McLaren Vale
A group of our Classical Voice students (Pippa Storlarski, Daisy Jury, Willow Barrett, Rosy O'Connor, Charlie Jin, Sean Kelley, and Hannah Szabo) performed at a dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the McLaren Vale called 'Our Place' as part of preparations for the Big Sing community concert in September.

Professor Hsing-Chwen Hsin Visit and Masterclass
On Tuesday 17 June the Elder Conservatorium hosted a visit by the internationally acclaimed Taiwanese pianist Professor Hsing-Chwen Hsin. Prof. Hsin, who is Head of Performance at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University in Tawain, delivered an engaging masterclass with the piano students, and also shared some fascinating insights on the Chopin Études.

Elder Conservatorium Guitar Ensemble in Victor Harbor
The Elder Conservatorium guitar students and the Elder Conservatorium Guitar Ensemble had a great time performing solo and ensemble works at Investigator College Performing Arts Centre in Victor Harbor as part of their instrumental music afternoon last Sunday 15 June.

Stephen King Records New Album with Sally Walker and Emily Granger
Last week Stephen King (viola) recorded an album of new works, with a new trio including Sally Walker (flute) and Emily Granger (harp). Composers included Anne Boyd, Ross Edwards, Elena Kats-Chernin and Tristan Coelho.

Nobuntu and Academy Voices Premiere 'Himeji Garden at Dusk' by Dr Carl Crossin OAM and 'Glenelg Sunset' by Dr Anne Cawrse
Two of the leading choral figures in Australia today, Associate Professor Carl Crossin OAM and Dr Anne Cawrse (Adjunct Lecturer in Composition), were commissioned by UKARIA to create new works for this year's A Cappella Academy, which featured Zimbabwe-based female a cappella quintet Nobuntu as ensemble-in-residence, and the new Adelaide-based vocal group Academy Voices (directed by ECM alumnus Jonathan Bligh), comprised of twelve singers from the Adelaide Chamber Singers, Aurora Vocal Ensemble, Festival Statesmen Chorus and Rising Voices.
Vanya Quartet Selected for AFCM International Masterclass Program 2025
The Vanya Quartet – Lucy Macourt (violin), Nick Miceli (violin), Clara Salzmann (viola) and Henry Say (cello) – were recently announced as one of five ensembles and duos selected to participate in the Australian Festival of Chamber Music's International Masterclass Program 2025, under Program Director Lloyd Van't Hoff (our Head of Woodwinds).

Our Head of Brass, Dr Emma Gregan, spent a weekend in Bendigo from Saturday 14–Sunday 15 June, representing the Elder Conservatorium as part of our regional outreach program.

Sarah Duhig (Honours conducting student) has been engaged professionally to conduct performances of the Avatar: The Last Airbender movie with live orchestra in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
